KK Poly bags 3 Top Awards at the 2025 TIFAZ

The Tertiary Institutions Festival of Arts in Zimbabwe (TIFAZ) roared into life in between the 10th and the 14th of May 2025. It was as if all roads led to Belvedere Technical Teachers College where over 20 Tertiary institutions in Zimbabwe battled for supremacy in as far as Arts is concerned. The host institutions was a hive of activity as at the same venue Zimbabwean Universities were also having some games. Buses battled for parking space. TIFAZ is an annual event and platform whereby masters of poetry, drama, music, graphic design, painting, drawing, photography, textile design, culinary, cosmetology, modelling, just to mention but a few show each other how it is done. This was a top notch event graced by senior Ministry Officials, Principals of Colleges, academics, artists, different professionals and members of the public. Most of the categories ran under the themes “cultural identity” and “no to drugs”. We have come to a cross roads point whereby our cultural identity and the sanctity of the present generation is at a high risk of erosion, largely due to the abuse of drugs and substances and other related factors. Artists, with their ability to communicate using various means and ways spoke louder against such vices which are threatening the moral fibre of our society. There was also a celebration and promotion of our God-given natural and locally available heritage. At such a platform, walking away with 3 top awards is no joke. The Kwekwe Polytechnic team comprising of staff and students drawn from various divisions and departments put up a spirited fight and won the following awards from the respective categories;

-The Platinum Award in the Drawing Category

-The Platinum Award in the Photography Category

-The Gold Award in the Textile Design Category.

Our visuals told long stories. They got deeper to the point where bone and marrow meet. They addressed the inner man thereby impressing the judges.

Kwekwe Polytechnic’s heavy presence was felt as a result of scooping such accolades thereby sending shivers across the board. In the future there is more room and need to exploit so much of our untapped talents in areas such as marimba, electric band, traditional dance, mbira and other genres of arts.
